The present book offers a new objective review of the history of Egypt during the Ottoman period, i.e. from 1517 to 1914. As part of the Ottoman Empire for more than three centuries,Egypt played an important role in Ottoman politics, economy and culture. Scholarly opinions on aspects and repercussions of this weighty presence in Ottoman history vary. Converging and diverging views as well as research findings are all reflected in this book, which is aimed to cover diverse topics under varying lights in an objective, scholarly methodology that would help to project a true image of this history. The book is in Arabic. It is organized in two volumes with a comprehensive thematic coverage comprised of 41 articles. The contributing authors are diversified in their specializations and cultural backgrounds. The articles are all based on original documents and first-hand sources. They were authored in different languages; translations into Arabic were done at IRCICA.
